Viewing the Compaq® Visual Fortran PDF Documentation

To view the PDF files, use either Adobe® Acrobat® or its free viewer,
Acrobat Reader, Version 4.0 or later. You can either use the version of
Acrobat Reader provided on the Compaq Visual Fortran Version 6.6 CD-ROM (in
the x86\Tools\Acroread directory, double-click file Rs40eng.exe) or you can
download and install a later version of Acrobat Reader from the following
Internet URL:

  http://www.adobe.com

If you want to install a newer version of Acrobat Reader, remove the older
version (use Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs) before you install the
newer version.

The Compaq Visual Fortran (Visual Fortran) CD-ROM contains the following
Visual Fortran Version 6.6 PDF files:

   * The root directory contains the Compaq Visual Fortran Installing and
     Getting Started guide, which is also provided in printed form with your
     kit. The file name is Cvf_gs.pdf.
   * This directory, Info\Df\Doc\CVF_PDF, contains the Visual Fortran and
     Array Visualizer online HTML Help documentation in PDF form. These
     files are provided for those with limited Internet access who prefer
     not to use HTML Help viewer.

Other PDF files are provided on the Visual Fortran CD-ROM, including files
for the CXML math library routines and the IMSL numerical library routines
in directories x86\Df\CXML\Doc and x86\Df\IMSL\Help (see Compaq Visual
Fortran Installing and Getting Started, Section 8.4).

Visual Fortran online documentation is primarily provided in HTML Help
format, as described in Chapters 8 and 9 of the Compaq Visual Fortran
Installing and Getting Started included with your kit (also provided as an
online PDF file).

To view the Visual Fortran PDF files in Acrobat Reader (after you install
Acrobat Reader):

  1. Insert the Compaq Visual Fortran CD-ROM
  2. Start Acrobat Reader (Start-> Programs-> Acrobat Reader)
  3. In the File menu, click Open
  4. Navigate to the appropriate directory, either the CD-ROM's root
     directory or the Info\Df\Doc\CVF_PDF directory
  5. Double-click the file you want to view. The PDF files in the root
     directory are:
      Compaq Visual Fortran Installing and Getting Started  Cvf_gs.pdf

     The PDF files in the Info\Df\Doc\CVF_PDF directory include the
     following:

      Visual Fortran Language Reference   Cvf_lref.pdf

      Visual Fortran Programmer's Guide   Cvf_pg.pdf

      Visual Fortran Error Messages       Cvf_rter.pdf

      Compaq Array Visualizer             Cvf_avis.pdf

  6. Use Acrobat Reader's navigation features to locate and view the
     desired information, perhaps using Acrobat Reader's toolbar. When done
     viewing that file, click Close in the File menu.

The Visual Fortran CD-ROM also contains the HTML form of the HTML Help
titles and the printed Compaq Fortran Language Reference Manual (provided
with your Visual Fortran kit):

   * To view the HTML form of the printed Compaq Fortran Language Reference
     Manual, start your Web browser and open the file Dflrm.htm in
     directory Info\Df\Doc\LRM on the Visual Fortran CD-ROM.
   * To view the HTML form of the online Visual Fortran Language Reference,
     Programmer's Guide, Error Messages, and Array Visualizer, open the
     file readme.htm in the directory Info\Df\Doc\Cvf_html.

The Visual Fortran and Array Visualizer PDF files contained in the on the
Visual Fortran CD-ROM are also available for downloading from the Compaq
Fortran Web page, http://www.compaq.com/fortran (click Online
Documentation). This Online Documentation page also contains links to other
Visual Fortran and Compaq Fortran documentation in HTML form.
